When we talk about mathematics we feel either it is only about numbers or geometry or some algebraic equations containing some variables and our job is to find unknown variable(s). but it is just a small part of entire mathematics. when we look around us we find objects of different shapes and colours , yes in one sense we are finding unknown quantities but mathematics is not about finding unknown quantities it is about how one can deeply understand the cause of anything.
In pure sense it is the way to understand God's thinking in term of a equation which is correct way of understanding the world around us. How everything works in nature? this question can be answered in many ways and in many levels for example if one tries to understand gravity one can just say its a force but this answer is not satisfactorily answer for the person who really wants to understand it clearly and deeply. Newton would have not called as one of the greatest scientist if he would have not given the mathematical proof for his theory of gravity. and in order to give a mathematical proof he invented calculus some people don't understand Calculus and Newton invented it practically on a dare. it always make me shock of who Newton was. one person asked him why did planets revolve in elliptical orbit rather than perfect circles? and this question made Newton curious about finding the answer and in order to give the answer to this question he invented calculus giving complete mathematical proof of why planets revolve in ellipses.
So what i want to say here is Mathematics is the basics of all sciences Physics has no meaning without mathematics involved in that. with the help of mathematics we can calculate things , find the shapes of trajectories ,areas of any shape using integration , finding the distances and heights of buildings away from us and we can calculate how one thing changes with respect to other. mathematics has many branches some of them are:
1 Arithmetic
2 Trigonometry
3 Geometry
4 Algebra
5 Calculus
Some students think mathematics is difficult subject to understand but the real truth is mathematics make everything in the simplest form and in the way that all could understand it. For example if you want to find the sum of all the numbers from 1 to 100 how did you find it are you going to add all the numbers if you, then really you are insulting mathematics its very easy so the solution goes like this
S=1+2+3+4+5+......+100
Now S is same as
S=100+99+98+97+.......+1
so it can be written as
2S=101+101+101+.....+101(100 Times)
2S=(100)(101)
2S=10100
S=10100/2
S=5050
It is just a example which shows that mathematics has its own beauty and this is called famous Gauss's theorem
what make mathematics still more beautiful is the famous irrational number pi(𝝅) which is simply defined as the ratio of circumference of the circle to its diameter and this is the number which is always equal to 3.14159265357829.... but believe me
it is not just about circle it is about its existence in the universe which makes it so fundamental for our understanding of universe
and it goes on our understanding of mathematics is going on increasing . From the earliest mathematicians like Euclid or Archimedes upto now we have understood many things but there are many things yet to be discovered.
